4 of The Best Plant- Based Protein Powders

4 of The Best Plant-Based Protein Powders

I’ve done a lot of research on vegan plant-based protein powders over the years and here are my current favs.  The main things I look for when choosing protein powders

  • vegan protein source i.e. peas, rice, quinoa
  • how much protein, cabs, fat (macronutrients) in each serving
  • does it contain soy
  • how much added sugar
  • what sweetener is used

I’m also always looking out for other beneficial things like BCAA’s, probiotics, fruits and veggies etc etc.  Here are my favorites:

Vega Sport Protein

  • plant based
  • 30g Protein
  • protein sources- pea, pumpkin, sunflower and alfalfa protein
  • 5g BCAAs
  • No added sugar
  • Sweetened with stevia leaf
  • Added bonus:
    • post workout recovery ingredients like tart cherry, turmeric and probiotics
    • Keto friendly- 3g net carbs

I like Vega Sport because first its completely plant based. They use pea, pumpkin, sunflower and alfalfa protein. And it is specifically formulated for people who are working out and need additional BCAA’s (branched-chain amino acids LINK). Vega provides 5 grams of BCAA Also there are no added sugars for those of us trying to reduce our sugar intake.  It is sweetened with stevia leaf which is a plant-based sweetener. The only con is that it is not organic.

Summary

This is a short list of plant protein powders. There are definitely more out there but these are my go-tos. I would choose Garden of Life or Vega if you workout, do intense workouts and or may not get enough BCAA’s in your meals. And if you aren’t worried about BCAA than Orgain is a just as good option. But you can’t go wrong with any of these protein powders! Give one a try and let me know what you think!
